TK's, Aurora, Ontario - EarthHour

fan review by Janis

Another successful Slime Dogs event is in the books with the band bringing down the house at the end of winter ’Spring Fling’ at TK’s Restaurant & Pub in downtown Aurora. From the start of the night with the glow stick girls to the end with the table dancing women a fabulous time was had by everyone.
Credit goes to lead glow stick girl Laura Ivens for kick-starting the fundraising by selling jazzy glow sticks for the upcoming Relay for Life, Cancer Fundraiser taking place Friday June 13th in Stouffville, ON.

Although lead singer Michael all star Mangov was still feeling a bit dizzy he never sounded better. We may have hot new sound man, young Todd to thank for that. He was getting busy twisting dials with the jealous hot breath from the ever sober Roy man Showers at his back. He even had the approval of hard to please ear Mad Dog Molherino.

The acoustic set, (can we call it that?) found the band.... well not quite unplugged as earth hour came to a close. Candles on every table was a nice touch, but with half the televisions on, the lights ablaze and the band half unplugged, the meaning of Earth Hour was a bit lost on this partygoer. I think we can take solace in the fact that we were all at least in one spot and the lights were out at home. We were all glad to see the beautiful JoJo back and looking, not like a she Superman, but her usual glowing self, singing and sounding like an angel (from Slime Dog Hell that is). It would have been nice to hear just her gorgeous voice sing a tune for earth hour.

Plans to clear the three tables in front of the band fell through when a group of people (as it turned out Bubba’s cheering section) plopped themselves into the chairs and quickly filled the tables with canters of red wine and trays of nacho’s.

Many of the gang looked a bit different than at the last gathering in this establishment to celebrate Halloween. There was no risk of fire with the handsome fire safety boys in the house, but what was hot was Lester’s dancing; who knew the man could shake like Elvis.

Cheers of "Bubba, Bubba" echoed through the bar and Bubba rocked it out and saved another horse. Kristen caught the whole thing on digital video, hold your breath for this folks.... coming to a website near you will be a rundown of the whole Slime Dog band set.

The dance floor didn’t quite get the set up as the waitress’s were not the quickest girls around. Let’s just say they won’t be winning the restaurant server race anytime soon. Perhaps it was a good thing everyone stayed a little thirsty, probably fewer headaches next day, but it may have affected TK’s nightly take as they couldn’t seem to bring the drinks quick enough. A few went hungry as well as tries to flag down the long haired server running around with one beer on her tray went unheeded. They finally seemed to get caught up at the end of the night.

The Slime Dogs tunes called out to the dancers in the crowd and fans squeezed themselves between the tables and the band. People created their own dance floor as people will do when the Slime Dogs play. The dancers rocked it out in the small space they had. With a dancing, bopping crowd squeezing together, things got a little tight. Especially when a mysterious dancing Casanova started spinning girls around and managed to tumble one (who was already less then steady on her feet) into Mike’s legs and music stand. A collection of song sheets and binders fell into the band, but they played on. We all know how much front man Mike enjoys inebriated party goers falling into him. The band played on and on into the wee hours of the night accommodating cheers for ’one more’ from the crowd. Two revellers couldn’t contain themselves and jumped up on a table knocking glasses to the floor to table dance to the final echoes of the Slime Dog’s last tune. The shindig came to a peaceful end with the crowd piling in taxis and staggering off down Yonge Street. It would seem things weren’t quite so peaceful next door Big thanks goes out to everyone who pitched in to set up and tear down and make the sound happen, to Tina for having the Slime Dogs back in Aurora and to all the members of the Slime Dogs for putting on another great show.

We love you guys! Never stop rocking!
